I'm no regular visitor to Skye, okay so I've visited the Island 5 times in 4 years but given it's 200 miles from home, I don't see my self as a familiar face .

My 1st visit to this area was for a 'wee change from the norm' , after all, I can't keep going back to the same spots night after night can I ?

We didn't get our final set-up completely right but the area is gorgeous in the right light and definitely worth a revisit in the future.

Fresh Pixels !!!

A few shots now from my enjoyable week on Skye in May.

Anna's 1st trip to the Isle (sorry for the bridge and lack of ferry trip dearest!! )

Ultimately I think I may have employed my 1st 'family to be' fair weather photographer apprentice.

Anna really enjoyed taking in the lovely light we had on occasion and captured her 1st sunset by means of DSLR.

Neist point lit up for us, the setting sun broke the low cloud cover just above North Uist and illuminated the area spectacularly, a real moment in time...............

Looking at this shot gives you a sense of isolation, it couldn't be further from the truth........

Surrounded by a scattering of 6 to 8 toggers it can often be a struggle to keep your mind open to your goal, which is:-

Bring home the beauty witnessed by your eye in photographic form

If you can succeed at that when amongst Earths Beauty then you're a photographer.

My personal favourite from this trip ends my 5 days in Skye back in March.

A few more from May's trip to follow.

If you were to look through my shots from Elgol you'll probably find quite a few, mostly similar in subject content.

What you may discover though is why photographers never 'tick off' locations. Scotland and Skye in particular is never the same two days in a row, the light and weather is forever changing, that's why I keep returning to Elgol, that's why I'll forever return............

The ever present westerly winds battered the hardened photographers and the cliff edge grasses that offer no shelter.

This is Neist point when only on rare occasions you get what you came for, nice light and no wind.

You struggle on, bump up the ISO, hold on for dear life and get that one shot to remind yourself of that bone chilling winters evening.

It wasn't meant to be, our weather forecast was for rain and no last light to photograph, with this in mind we returned to base camp 4 bedroom bungalow.........

Sitting bletherring about our days shooting something began distracting our west facing coffee drinkers, the light from the setting sun put on a show of delightful light. I had to capture something, I had to bring home a memory of another one of those 'never say never' moments............

The landscape of Skye screams to be photographed, shooting during the day can be tricky and more than often unrewarding, wandering through the wild heather the clouds began to show me that little extra something that, for me, made this shot.

I never tire from the magnificent Cuillin Hills, they fascinate me, I wish I had the fitness, Skill and time to climb and explore them. Getting to Elgol seems forever, you don't see the hills till the last stretch of road down to the harbour, if anything was ever worth the wait it is the journey to Elgol and the view you're rewarded with.

The angle of view at a focal length of 17mm provides an alternative to what I usually see through my everyday four eyes.

This can often be missed, to the naked eye the cloud in this shot was above me. The 'ultra wide' world behind the camera is a fascinating alternative to peripheral viewing.
